Phone Fell in Water - The First 5 Minutes Decide Everything
Water and electronics don't mix - but panic doesn't help. What you do in the first few minutes often determines whether the device can be saved.
Do immediately: Take the device out of the water and turn it off. Do not try to charge or turn it on. Remove the SIM card and, if possible, the battery. Gently dab with a soft cloth - do not rub.
Definitely avoid: Using a hairdryer. Heat enormously accelerates corrosion on the circuit board. Using rice as a desiccant - that's a myth. Rice barely draws moisture from the inside and wastes precious time. Testing the device for function - any power supply can cause short circuits.
What really helps: Bring the device to us as quickly as possible. We clean the circuit board with ultrasound and special solvents. The earlier the device is treated, the higher the chance of recovery - after 24 hours it drops significantly. Our initial diagnosis is free, and for water damage: No Fix, No Charge.
